This summer horse lovers will flock to equestrian events of all varieties nationwide, ranging from horse shows and gymkhanas to equestrian sports such as polo and dressage.

The Weald and Downland museum near Chichester, West Sussex hosts a range of country shows and equestrian activities year round from rare breed shows to the Heavy Horse Spectacular.

June 4th 2006 will see yet another successful Heavy Horse Spectacular which promises to demonstrate a range of handsome heavy horse breeds with an outstanding line-up for the show arena where equestrian events will occur throughout the day. It also offers keen visitors the chance to have a ride around the museum grounds in Fuller's Brewery Horse-drawn dray.

The equestrian display programme will run continuously from 10:30-4:00 and include:

10:30am - Parade of heavy horse breeds such as Shire, Suffolk, Punch, Percheron, Clydesdale

11:00am - The British Heavy Horse Cross country trails club teams demonstrate the fast team change

11:45am - Parade of agricultural and trade horse-drawn vehicles

1:00pm - Display of heavy horse riding

1:30pm - Heavy horses demonstrating the tricky art of log hauling

2:00pm - The British Heavy Horse Cross Country Trial Club present a display of timed obstacle driving through a cone course - a high speed precision driving test

2:30pm - An extra special display featuring a fire engine drawn by heavy horses putting out a fire followed by a display of Percheron horses wearing their magnificent journey bells

3:00pm - Parade of agricultural and trade horse-drawn vehicles followed by the presentation of horse brasses

4:00pm - All heavy horses take part in a grand finale parade around the museum
