When choosing a horse saddle you will come across a range of terms used by equestrian experts and saddle manufacturers that may seem baffling. Here are some of those terms explained:

Parts of the horse saddle

Saddle tree- this is the name given to the frame on which the horse saddle is constructed. The tree is either made of wood or fibreglass then covered with leather or a synthetic equivalent such as Equileather. It is essential that the tree fits both the rider and horse and that its condition is maintained for ultimate riding comfort

Elastiflex tree - maintains clearance of your horse's wither to eliminate the chance of chafing. It also offers lateral flex that will work with your horse's muscle movement to provide freedom of movement while riding.
