Kotkor

When Le Chameau clothing was being developed, its designers came upon a problem when they discovered that the perfect fabric for their designs simply did not exist. After considerable research, they found the answer to this issue by inventing the material themselves - and so Kotkor was created.

The name Kotkor was chosen with reference to the two main ingredients used in this special fabric: cotton and Cordura. Whilst we are all familiar with the soft, breathable properties of cotton, Cordura may be a new name to some people. Developed for the hiking industry, this material is extremely durable and strong.

The combination of the two in Kotkor means that Le Chameau clothing made from this fabric is comfortable to wear next to the skin, yet surprisingly hard-wearing. It is phenomenally difficult to rip, which is excellent news for those who love traipsing through the woods or across moorland where it is easy for clothing to get snagged. Kotkor is even able to make the claim that it cannot be permanently damaged by thorns.

It is covered with a special Teflon finish which repels water, preventing the fabric from becoming heavy with water. Even if the rain is particularly heavy, a Le Chameau jacket made from Kotkor will stop you from getting wet, however, as the fabric is lined with a waterproof membrane. This membrane is also fully breathable, allowing moisture to escape outside the jacket and leaving you totally dry.
