The humble Wellington boot has undergone a revolution in the past few years. No longer is there merely a staple welly boot, there are now Wellingtons which are designed for numerous specialist outdoor pursuits. Here at Dogwood, we are proud suppliers of one of the finest French exports since wine and Eric Cantona, the Aigle Wellington boot.
Aigle have been hand crafting wellies for over 100 years, and in this time they have constantly reinvented, updated and upgraded the traditional Wellington so it accords with the new technologies of the day, all the while maintaining the very essence of a handcrafted item of specialist footwear.
So which Aigle Wellington should you choose? This all depends on what you want it for. Do you want a good all round, walking the dogs on the common, going to the meet down the road boot? Or do you want a boot that will see you through the chill of a cold winters shoot? Either way, Aigle has a range of boots to suit. So let's have a look.
Everyday/Working/Walking welly
It’s hard to top the Aigle Parcours Vario for good all round appeal – it’s not their best-selling boot for nothing! Crafted on walking shoe lasts, the Parcours Vario is quite unlike many other welly manufacturers boots as it is shaped to conform to the contours of the leg, thus giving ankle support and all day comfort. The sole is shock absorbent and is based on hiking shoes, so you are afforded optimum grip and traction, whatever the surface. For all you men and women that want, what can only be described as a superb ‘all-rounder’ of the boot world, then the Parcours Vario from Aigle is the way to go.
And for those of you that live and work in colder climes, then the Vario is now available with 4.5mm neoprene lining and 6mm thick polypropylene secondary insole. This gives the wearer the same benefits that wetsuits have for cold water divers. The Aigle Parcours ISO, to give it its proper name, is a must for people who have circulatory problem, suffer from cold feet or just for those that live, work or play in colder climes.
Shooting Boot
For a days shooting you need to have a comfortable boot that will keep you warm, dry, and stable on those slippery banks and is wide enough to fit your thick shooting socks in. Well, luckily Aigle have created Wellingtons for this exact purpose; the Parcours Vario Outlast and the Parcours Prestige.
The Parcours Vario Outlast is at the cutting edge of technology, as it actually features technology that was designed for NASA astronauts. ‘Outlast’ is a technical fabric that was created to protect astronauts from fluctuations in temperature, and it is this same fabric that has been incorporated into the Parcours Vario Outlast’s lining. So if it is a hot day it will keep your foot cool and, conversely, if it’s a cold day it will regulate the temperature so your foot remains warm. Additional features are the same as the original Parcours Vario; being adjustable waterproof calf fitting, 2mm thick polypropylene mid-sole, Gomma Plus rubber and shock absorbent, hard wearing front and rear braking lugs.
If you really want to stand out from the rest of the shoot, then you’ll be hard pushed to get anything more refined than the Aigle Parcours Prestige. Handcrafted from exceptionally durable Gomma Plus rubber, the Parcours Prestige combines the quintessential traditional affects of full-grain leather lining, with a full length, fully waterproof zip. The Parcours Prestige is crafted to last, with 4 layers of rubber used to aid comfort, support, protection and of course, waterproofness.
Childrens Wellingtons
All grown up puddle jumpers will know how the feeling of jumping in a nice big puddle and causing a splash is what childhood is all about. Well Aigle have created children wellingtons that suit specific ages and footsizes. The Baby Flac is ideal for children with feet 19-27, and the Lolly-pop with its slightly higher leg height, is ideal for foot sizes 28-34.
