Rugby stars will be swapping their sports kit for riding clothing next Thursday (6th August) for the Sportsman's Equestrian Evening. It will be a clash of the Titans as the pros of each sport meet together to try and prove their metal.
Held at Hartpury College, Gloucestershire, the charity fundraiser combines rugby and equestrianism and will involve current and former Lions players who will be donning their riding apparel to compete alongside the likes of Mark Todd and Carl Hester.
Scrums on the rugby pitch will be swapped for piaffes and canter pirouettes as the sporting greats compete against each other in these two very English but very different sports.
Stallion master and bloodstock agent, David Redvers and showing pro, Robert Oliver and his wife Claire came up with the idea.
The evening will also incorporate demonstrations from top riders as well as a parade by the Ledbury Hounds.
Money raised from the event will be donated to the local Air Ambulance, Ledbury hunt and the Eloise and Kate Memorial Trust which funds projects in aid of young cancer sufferers.
Kick off/hoof off will be at 7pm and the evening will end at 10:30pm, entry is just £10 to catch a rare glimpse of the Lions in full riding clothing.
