Now retired from wearing horse tack and being ridden, 51-year-old Scribbles is competing for the title of oldest pony in the world.
The retired Cornwall riding school pony was bought by Jill Power of Strawberry Riding School in Camborne in 1978 as a less than youthful 20-year-old. After 24 years in the horse bridle as a riding school pony, Scribbles was retired aged 44 in 2002.
Living with his owner Alison Eathorne, he now spends most of his time lying down in the field.
Mrs Eathorne said: "The vet is always amazed at how fit and healthy he is. He is a real character even if he is slowing down. I think he could have another five years in him."
All of Scribble's official documents are being sent to the Guinness Book of World Records team in the hope that he will become a record breaker and be recognised as the oldest living pony in the world.
With few horses living past 30, Scribbles is already nearly twice as old as the age most horses reach.
His owner believes he still has at least another five years in him which he can enjoy horse tack-free in total horsey relaxation.
