A couple from Somerset have ditched their riding boots in favour of walking boots to walk the 100-mile Two Moors Way in Devon to help a friend be selected for the 2012 Para Olympic Dressage competition.

The couple are setting out on the 9th October from Lynmouth and aim to be in Newton Ferrers on 17th October.

All the money raised from their trek will go towards getting Debbie Hounsome, from Gillingham, Dorset and her retired racehorse Afrika Jongo into the games.

Previous fund raising efforts have included a sponsored swim by Debbie's fellow Riding for Disabled rider, Tom Davies who managed to raise £450 to help pay for Debbie's lessons, livery and equestrian clothing and equipment.

Debbie, 43, is a care worker who was a national gymnast in her teens before she broke her back and had to have both hips replaced.

If you wish to sponsor the couple and help Debbie get in her riding boots ready for the Olympics, you can find the number on the Horse and Hound website.
