A child’s pony was saved by a horse rug after being shot by a crossbow bolt.
Wiltshire police are investigating an incident concerning a pony found by owner Sarah Padgett with a cut on her neck and a three inch bolt lying near by.
Suspected to have been shot by a cross bow, the 5-year-old pony named Lulu, was found with the injury on September 24th while Sarah was doing a check up.
None of the other 27 horses kept at Tascroft Farm were injured, although Sarah’s six year old daughter, Teagan, was so distraught she had to take the day off school.
Mrs Padgett believed her pony rug saved Lulu’s life as the dart must have glided off.
Sarah, who is based in Warminster, told a local paper: “I can’t imagine what sort of sick person would want to do something like this to a harmless, innocent animal.”
If you have any information, a spokesman for Wiltshire police is appealing for witnesses. Please contact the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
