A warning has come from the British Horse Society after at least one person in the Northamptonshire area has been found to be posing as an official BHS approved officer.
A female arrived at a Northamptonshire yard on the 8th September claiming to be from the British Horse Society and taking photographs of the yard. The yard owner was suspicious and contacted the BHS who confirmed the woman wasn’t an official representative.
However, that night there was an attempted break in for horse rugs and horse tack but the burglars were unsuccessful and the police attending the crime scene.
“This female was in her late twenties, early thirties with blonde hair, well spoken and with an accent. We want to advise all centre owners and staff to be more vigilant and to check for ID.” said the proprietor.
Annual spot checks from the society are announced but it’s still advised that establishments check names and ID’s of anyone coming onto the yard from BHS. If somebody fails to show adequate identification they should be asked to leave the premises immediately.
