A new website has been designed to help rehome unwanted horses in the UK. The problem is a reoccurring issue and Horses4Homes aims to help protect horses and their futures.

With the rising price of horse supplies and the time it takes to look after horses, more and more owners are unfortunately moving towards rehoming there horses.

Developed by vice chairman of the National Equine Welfare Council, Rebecca Evans, the website will help rehome, share and loan horses in a safe environment.

Rebecca said: “This is for people who care about their horse but through no fault of their own have had to give them up.

“We will invite applicants to apply for that horse and screen them according to the owner’s requirements. We will strongly recommend that applicants try the horse, and that owners visit where the horse will be kept.”

The National Equine Database and stolen horse register will be used to check horses and although the site is free to advertise on, there will be a small nominal fee of £10 to be screened and considered for potential owners and £50 if a match is found.
