Robert Whitaker is in the spotlight this week after winning the bareback puissance jumping, clearing 2.12metre wall.  Competing at the Stockholm International Horse Show, Robert cleared the huge wall to take the competition on Mandy Hall's and Clare Whitaker's 8 year old gelding, Waterstone II.

Jumping without a saddle, all Robert needed was a bridle, a pair of riding boots and a riding hat to be the only combination clear in the class. He may have also jumped into the world record books, although at the moment it is Nick Skelton who holds the current official record at 7ft7 back in 1978 on Lactic; however that was with a saddle.

“It’s an unofficial record,” said Robert. “I think other riders may have jumped higher but it was high enough to win the class, which is the main thing.”
