The equestrian venue for the 2008 Bejing Olympic and Paralympic events has recently been completed.

In total 13 equestrian training areas for dressage, show jumping and eventing have been completed, as well as a 5.7km temporary cross country course at the Beas River Country Club, adjacent to the Hong Kong golf club.

The construction of the site took just two years to build with facilities including a main horse show arena with seating for around 19,000 at Penfold Park, which is centred in Sha Tin racecourse in the New Territories.

As well as using recycled telegraph poles for jumps and installing energy efficient lighting and air conditioning in 270 stables, the Hong Kong Jockey Club is also to make available its fleet of horseboxes, its equine hospital and racing laboratory.
