BHS sets out future for Scottish equestriansHome -> News -> Bhs releases scottish equestrian industry proposalsThe British Horse Society (BHS) has issued a proposal designed to improve the Scottish equestrian industry. Although horse riding is already a significant source of revenue in Scotland, raising more than £200 million for the economy, the BHS believes that there is a whole raft of enhancements that should be made to the industry. The BHS manifesto was presented at the Scottish Parliament and was attended by some influential figures, one of which was MSP Dr Elaine Murray. Dr Murray was central in the recent fight to improve some aspects of the Animal Health and Welfare Bill. Dr Murray, who is an equestrian herself, said: "A manifesto is much more than a wish list and this one in particular shows the future direction of our important equine industry." A spokesperson for the BHS explained the importance of getting it right with developments for the future, saying that the manifesto is "giving us positive direction for the future." She continued: "More and more people are turning to horses as a positive life choice and the numbers of equines living in Scotland is constantly on the rise." |
