New Eventing legislation put in place for body protectorHome -> News -> British eventing introduces new legislation for body protectorsAs part of British Eventing’s continued aim to improve the safety of both horse and rider, it has now introduced measures for the innovative BodyCage Exo-Skeleton body protector. The BodyCage Exo-Skeleton is a cutting edge body protector that incorporates a magnesium alloy cage which is surrounded by a traditional foam layer. The advances made by the new style body protector meant the British Eventing sport committee had to ensure all those helping at Events are aware of any competitor that is using it. Mike Etherington Smith, British Eventing director of sport, said: “Site teams need to know if people are wearing them because if they fall there’s a special way of unfastening them.” This method includes an Allen key in the side of the flap which can be used to unlock the body protector at the shoulder. The new legislation deems that any horse rider competing at a British Eventing equestrian event will have to declare upon arrival, that they will be using the BodyCage Exo-Skeleton body protector. |
