Lady attacked by dog while horse ridingHome -> News -> Dog attacks woman out horse ridingA lady from Caerphilly has spoken out about a dog attack that occurred while she was out horse riding. The 64-year-old equestrian had been hacking out on her Welsh cob Max and was accompanied by her two dogs when she approached two men and their dog on a forest footpath. The dog, which she describes as a pit-bull type, was not on a leash and quickly ran to attack her two dogs. Her dogs soon ran off to escape the attack, at which time the dog turned its attention to the lady and her horse. She explained what happened next, saying: "It sank its teeth into Max's tummy and tore the flesh away. He was pouring blood." The dog then tried to pull her off the horse by biting and tugging at her riding boots, which were left torn to bits. The shocked lady managed to get her horse to gallop towards the nearest stables, with the dog still hanging on by its teeth. After experiencing a horrific 45 minute ride of bucking and rearing, she reached the stables whereupon the stable manager came to her aid. She said: "He's my hero. He dashed off to get an iron bar and beat the dog off. I managed to jump off and run into the stable where I just sat on a bale of hay, traumatised." She added that it was fortunate the dog had not attacked children who she had seen horse riding nearby. The woman reported the vicious act to police, who are asking for anyone with information to call 01633 838111. |
