Horse tack stolen by professional thievesHome -> News -> Robbers pry on expensive horse tack section of garden centreThieves have struck at a garden centre in Lincolnshire and managed to get away with thousands of pounds worth of horse tack. The Birchgrove garden centre, owned by George Slinger, was robbed somewhere between 10.30pm and 10.45pm on Wednesday 15 August. It is thought the horse tack robbers were a professional unit who deliberately targeted the Better Tack section of the building, and made away with several thousand pounds worth of leather bridles and saddles. Mr Slinger stated: βIt was obviously a very professional job β they took all the best English leather. We have a sophisticated alarm system and we felt it was enough. But nothing is foolproof β they are professionals.β Unfortunately, this horse tack incident is by no means one of a kind for the Birchgrove Garden Centre. It is one in a case of several burglaries over the past few years there; other cases have included lawn mowers and horse rugs being stolen. The police force is asking for anyone who hears of cheap horse tack being sold or noticed any suspicious activity at the site on the 15 August 2007 to get in contact by calling 01775 722233 and quoting incident number 443 of August 15. Alternatively, one can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
