Royal International Horse Show triumphs over adverse weatherHome -> News -> Royal international horse show goes ahead without a hitchDespite the atrocious British weather of late, the Longines Royal International Horse Show went ahead between the 25th and 29th July 2007 without a hitch. The success of the show going ahead was partly due to the shrewd move by the International Arena to install a new £50,000 drainage system to the site. The show, which is held at Hickstead, is the official horse show of the British Horse Society and celebrated its centenary with an official visit on Thursday 26 July by HRH the Princess Royal. During the five days over 42,000 people attended to view the show jumping and dressage as well as taking the opportunity to look around the vast array of stalls selling their wares. Amongst the stalls selling all manner of bridles, saddles, rugs and horse tack, there were also country clothing stalls selling every conceivable from of country clothing, from wellies to wax jackets, Joules clothing to Musto; so there was no reason to get bored in breaks of competition. The Royal International Horse Show also hosted the British Riding Clubs team jumping championship, with eighty-three teams taking part which was finally won by Newlands Corner riding club. |
