Wellington boots allowed at Royal Regatta

In a break from tradition, the Henley Royal Regatta has relaxed its strict dress code to allow Wellington boots to be worn in its Regatta enclosures. The organisers of the Regatta were made to depart with tradition because of the unusually wet British summer.

It was an issue of safety more than anything that brought the somewhat dramatic decision to allow Wellington boots; as the already muddy banks along with the predicted rain meant spectators would be at risk in normal Regatta attire.

The Henley Regatta along with Glastonbury festival are two events of recent date that have gone to show the waterproof and sturdy welly boot has a multitude of uses and is not just for the country sect.
