Top event rider William Fox-Pitt has taken number one spot at the inaugural Horse & Hound advanced eventing league, with a massive 154 point lean on second placed rival Andrew Nicholson.

William’s top three placings at advanced, CIC***, CIC*** and CIC**** during the eventing season, starting at Chatsworth and finishing at Burnham market, helped secure his comfortable lead at the top of the Land Rover sponsored league.

Second and third place proved to be a well-contested match between the seasoned New Zealand horse riding star Andrew Nicholson and Brit Oliver Townend, with both swapping places with each other over the course of the season. Andrew went ahead of Oli after Blenheim and Oli then made a valiant effort finishing second and third at Burnham Market; however, this was not enough to move Nicholson out of second place. In the end only 10 points separated second and third place.

The top 6 positions went to William Fox-Pitt, Andrew Nicholson, Oliver Townend, Polly Stockton, Chris King and Lucy Wiegersma.
