Horse rider hits out at speeding driversHome -> News -> Young horse rider speaks out against speeding driversA fifteen year old horse rider has hit out at speeding drivers in the Hartlepool area. The keen equestrian was out horse riding with a female companion when a speeding car came round a corner of a country lane and nearly ploughed into the back of them. He said: “A car sped round the blind bend and screeched up at about 90mph behind the horses. My horse was so terrified that it reared up and leapt forward on to the back of my friend’s horse…my friend could have been crushed.” Unfortunately this is an all too common occurrence for those that enjoy horse riding. The country lanes, together with wannabe Colin McRae’s make some drivers envisage they are on a rally track rather than a narrow road with horses, humans and of course other cars round the next corner. It is not known whether the driver was racing with another car or simply speeding on its own, although what has been noted is another car that came at an equally alarming speed shortly after the first. Cleaveland police said they are currently investigating the horse rider’s complaint. |
