The British ‘Young Riders’ Eventing team were crowned European champions at the finals at Blair Castle last week.

Having had a disappointing start to the competition with a combined dressage score that left them below in the rankings, the team were subsequently rewarded for their foot perfect performances on the cross country which elevated them to gold position coming in to the final and oh-so-often influential show jumping phase. In comparison to their continental counterparts, the British riders did not amount a single time penalty between them.

When it came to the show jumping phase, the British team again showed their superiority by knocking down just one fence. This ensured their gold medal position was secured and left it unobtainable to any of their opposition.

The winning team was an all girl affar; Emily Galbraith, Danni Cuomo, Charlotte Agnew and Georgie Spence helping to secure gold for Great Britain. In addition to the success in the team competition, individual placings were achieved by Nicola Wilson (Silver) and Emily Galbraith (Bronze).
