Sanctuary receives donation of materials from Barbour.

The famous country clothing manufacturer, Barbour, has kindly donated fleece and tartan materials to the Doris Banham Dog Sanctuary.  It is hoped the warm and cosy materials will keep the dogs in the utmost comfort whilst they are waiting to be re-homed.

The volunteer run Doris Banham sanctuary provides a safe place for abandoned or lost dogs to be kept until they are collected by their owners or a new home is found for them.  This is especially important given that dogs which are picked up by dog wardens can be put down after just seven days.

The trust works with pounds throughout the country, but especially in the North of England.  They collect all dogs that are due to be put to sleep that day and finds homes, whether in kennels or private boarding houses until a suitable permanent home can be found.

Lesley Johnston-Gray, a spokesperson from Barbour customer services commented:  “We were approached by Angela Tibbs on behalf of the trust, we had no hesitation in getting involved.  We do get leftover fabrics and materials and we are glad to donate these to such a worthy cause.”

Angela Tibbs, the trust's representative in this matter said: “I am extremely grateful to Barbour for their generous donation.  I have been using the materials to make coats in all shapes and sizes and I’ve also used some of the fleece materials for dog blankets.  These are distributed across the country to the kennels that we work with, in order to keep our rescued dogs and puppies warm.”
