The charge related to a black cob mare that was found to have severe facial injuries along with overgrown hooves. The unnecessary suffering included the horse being tethered to a 30ft chain with a halter embedded into its neck, in addition to open cuts on both sides of its body. A number of equestrian leagues were involved in the final prosecution, including the RSPCA, International League for the Protection of Horses (ILPH) as well as several other equine agencies. A spokesperson for the ILPH commented: "[The defendant] is a serial horse abuser and we are delighted that he has been given a prison sentence and further ban." |
