HORSE INFORMATION
CONFORMATION If possible, please provide some pictures of your horse’s back. Usually 2 will suffice: 1) The first, taken standing directly behind and above the horse. See fig. A.
2) The second, taken with the horse standing square with its head up and looking straight ahead. See figure B.

WITHER PATTERN
In order to achieve the closest possible representation of your horse’s shape, please provide a wither pattern (if possible). To take a wither pattern you need a flexicurve, some stiff wire or a straightened coat hanger, and then follow the steps below: 1) Ensure horse/pony is standing square on firm, level ground. 2) Make sure the measuring implement is straightened before use. 3) Place the middle of the measuring implement 2 inches (aproximatley 3 fingers width behind the shoulder blade). This is where the points of the tree would usually sit. Mould the implement vertically down each side to create an accurate representation of your horse’s withers. You should aim to reach 7-8” down either side. 4) Repeat the exercise to ensure you have the closest possible representation. 5) Now lay the measuring implement onto a piece of paper and trace along the inside. This will ensure we have a visual representation of your horse’s withers and will help our saddle fitters to gauge the required width of your new saddle. Please ensure you mark near side and off side on the paper.
