Jodhpurs from Dogwood

Jodhpurs and breeches are specialist functional trousers which are designed for horse riders who need protection, warmth and comfort. Jodhpurs and breeches are close fitting trousers with reinforced material around the knees. Jodhpurs are long trousers that end at the ankle and can be worn with long or short riding boots and breeches end at the calf so are worn with long riding boots.

Jodhpur

The word jodhpur came from the ancient city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan in North India where polo players used to wear tight fitting trousers. The trousers became popular in the UK and the name jodhpur was adopted.

Styles and colours

Traditionally jodhpurs were beige. Many people still prefer to wear beige jodhpurs. Jodhpurs and breeches can now be bought in a variety of colours, styles and materials.
