Riding breeches Breeches tend to be shorter than jodhpurs, usually ending at the calf - but they are just as versatile and hard-wearing for the job they must do while horse riding. Nowadays modern stretch materials ensure they can be purchased 'skin tight'. Full seat breeches - help riders stay gripped to the horse and are designed primarily for dressage as well as eventing and other riding activities. The word 'jodhpur' derived from the ancient city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan, North India, where polo players used to wear tight fitting trousers. The trousers became popular in the UK and the name jodhpur was adopted. Jodhpurs are a full-length riding trouser that reaches to the ankle.
