Stable Rugs
Used to keep your horse warm while inside, the stable rug comes in a range of different thicknesses, weights and fillings offering varying degrees of warmth to the horse. Stable horse rugs are breathable to allow the horse's perspiration to evaporate without discomfort and are available either with or without a neck cover. For horses that are stabled both day and night, a warmer rug may be required for cold nights which can then be removed again during the day.
Stable rugs come in three levels of weight – lightweight, which is anything up to 150g, mediumweight, which is usually up to 300g and heavyweight which is anything over 300g. Which weight to choose depends on how cold it is - the cooler the temperature, the heavier the rug should be.
Lightweight rugs
Lightweight rugs are perfect for cooler spring and autumn nights. The nylon anti-rub shoulder lining and fleece poll protection of the Mark Todd quilted lightweight stable rug will help protect against chafing, so that your horse stays comfy as well as warm.
Mediumweight rugs
For when the cold is beginning to set in, medium weight horse rugs should be used. Available with an optional neck cover, the Mark Todd mediumweight stable rug has the fleece poll protection as well as the anti-rub lining found on the lightweight rug.
Heavyweight rugs
For when the temperature really drops, the Fal Pro Saracen is perfect for keeping your horse nice and snug in the winter. Referred to as 'the hard man of stable rugs', the Fal Pro Saracen is a firm favourite among the equestrian community due to its stain-resistant outer and unique Equitex anti-rub inner lining.
