Sweat rugs to keep your horse from overheating
After heavy exercise or on a hot day your horse can quickly overheat which can prove life threatening if not dealt with effectively. Anti-sweat rugs help wick away moisture and cool a horse down gradually to maintain its temperature. Made from a combination of fleece and cotton, sweat horse rugs usually fasten at the front, although they can come with surcingles to help keep them more firmly in place.
The Horseware Rambo Newmarket Fleece is an example of a sweat rug with built in surcingles. Made from double bonded anti pill fleece, this rug is luxuriously soft and with secure cross surcingles, it can be used as a cooler or a travel rug.
Similarly, the Horseware Rambo Cotton Cooler can also be used while traveling or as a sweat rug after exercise. Not so different from a sweatshirt, it has thousands of tiny holes per square meter allowing the horse to cool down without catching a chill.
